IRONSTAR 226 SOCHI 2021

On October the 9th Sochi hosted a triathlon race as a part of IRONSTAR SOCHI 2021. Vladimir Medvedkin, Chief Specialist of HVAC department of «Metropolis», successfully finished the race IRONSTAR 226 among amateurs at the "iron" distance: swimming 3.86 km, cycling 180 km, running 42.195 km.

An «Iron» triathlon in Sochi is a unique sporting event. It is the only race in Russia where the swimming stage is taking place in a sea water area. It is the only race in Europe where the bicycle stage is taking place at a Formula-1 route. It is considered as the closing of the triathlon season.


Vladimir finished the distance of 226 km for just 11:07:03, which is an amazing result! Thus, in overall rankings he took 182 place out of 662 participants.

The swimming stage of the race took place in the bay of the Imeretinsky port, reliably protected from waves and currents by two breakwaters. The water temperature in the bay varies from 17 to 25 degrees from June to October.


The route of the bicycle race stretches along the federal highway Adler – Krasnaya Polyana, which on the day of the competition is completely blocked for triathletes. It includes a smooth uphill and a rapid descent – 2 laps.


The running stage took place along the Black Sea embankment and a pier, from where a stunning view of the coast opens.
